The first pics of Blu just before he went to Amandas.. He was plump, lazy and well loved.. he was well feed, his hooves had shoes .. he was wormed and current on his shots, blanketed when it was cold.. you get the idea.. this is how he was treated at home and this is how I expected him to be treated by Amanda..!! the deal was that she could bred Blu to her mares and stand him to outside mares and keep ALL the stud fee.. in exchange for training and showing him!
Well as the months went by it was drama after drama and excuse after excuse.. but needless to say Blu was no where near a show ring or training clinic or..?? for that matter.. and as winter came on I figured well.. maybe in the spring..
Then on December 30, 2009 Amanda contacted me telling me that Blu had been in a fight with another stallion and that he was hurt.. I rushed to her place right away.. What I found was devastating!!.. Apparently one of the mares had broken into the barn and busted Blu out of his stall (the boards of his stall had been pushed in) and while Blu and this mare were wandering up and down the barn isle, the other Stallion (which was some arab stallion free off of crasigslist), which was KNOW to be VERY aggressive, had lunged at Blu and almost took out his right eye , then tried to kick Blu only to kick through the hodgepodge boards of the stall and break his leg.. While I was there I noticed that Blu was very thin, had a long stringy hair coat , pot bellied, and somewhat lethargic.. as I began to look him over it was very apparent that he was NOT being cared for.. as I made my examination of him body ..I was about to check his hind legs and as I grabbed hold of his tail to lifted it out of the way .. I was horrified as my hand closed down on a fisted sized knot of matted hair, scab and puss!! Blu very patiently stood there as I slowly and carefully peeled away the nasty scab filled hair to find that there was a large wound about one inch in diameter all the way around his tail and down to the bone!!
It looked to be at least a week old and very infected.. When I confronted Amanda .. she stated that she had not noticed it and had no idea how it could have happened.. I was very upset.. but she assured me that the vet was coming out (to put down the other horse) and that she would have him treat it while he was there.. that she would get his tail cleaned up and bandaged and would take pics and send them to me that night.. I stayed up until 1am.. I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY PICS!!
I drove up the next day with my horse trailer and picked him up.. she had nothing but excuses and didnt even say she was sorry!! This is what my Blu looked like when I brought him home ..
DOES THAT LOOK LIKE THE HORSE I DROPPED OFF?? Does that look like a horse that has been treat properly and well taken care of?? Does that look like a horse that has been in training for the show ring??
I brought him home.. I doctored him!! He almost lost his right eye.. he almost lost the bottom half of his tail and my vet says if I had not found it the infection could have gone to his bone and KILLED HIM!!! He was wormy and covered in lice!!
Oh she offered to pay for him vet bills, so long as it wasnt to much .. BUT not once has she said she was sorry for what she did to my Blu.. Luckily we didnt have to amputate his tail.. but what about the fact that his tail will never be right again??
The top part of his eye lid was gone .. so there was nothing to stitch .. but why wasnt a known vicious stallion not in a better secure stall??
What about the condition of the rest on him?? The months its going to take to get him healthy again and back to proper weight and condition and worming him and getting rid of the lice??
NOT ONCE HAS SHE SAID SHE WAS EVEN SORRY!! Just excuses!
PLEASE.. I just dont want this to happen to anyone elses horse!!!
The Stallion that broke his leg and was put down was a stallion she had "rescued" Exxtra Perception.. that she had posted about on this website previously!!
