I've stepped out of showing the last couple of years after losing my primary show horse. He went way too soon and it just knocked the wind out of my sails.
I have a 3 year old this year but he's just not getting the size I feel he needs to be to go under saddle yet- so he may get another year to grow. I need to be doing all the ground work so getting on his back is an after thought. He's already worn leather and doesn't care one bit. The stirrups can flap against his tummy, doesn't bother him a bit. He's got a very independent personality though, so that will be interesting. The good thing is he LOVES to be scratched and rubbed. I swear he's part dog sometimes. If he could shake a leg when I scratch him, I think he would.
My other show horse is good but he doesn't have the same quality as the one that went too soon. I guess I just haven't decided what or if I want to return to the show ring. It's all I did for so many years.
Anyone else showing this year?
The grey is the 3 year old and the bay is 9 this year. These are pics from last summer.
