The ranch is soggy but we’re a bit higher than this and have no fear of flooding. Cottonwood Creek can’t say the same. Only high profile vehicles, like my truck, can make it through the flooded road with police escort to the bridge over the creek. Dyi in the summer and peaceful normally, it’s now a raging torrent almost up to the bridge.

Seeing that video stresses me out.

My ranch is named for my horse Bonn-Fyre who was killed in a flash flood when the person driving her in the trailer decided to cross a flooded bridge, while we were on our way to a Three Day Event

in Chula Vista, CA.   I was 13 1/2 at the time and in the vehicle.

He drove too fast across the bridge and the water stalled out the engine. Within five minutes a wall of water came down and literally picked up the truck and trailer and we went off the bridge.......

Long story short my horse Bonn-Fyre was found dead the next day in the then dry river bottom.  I was lucky to be alive because after climbing over the roof of the fan and unhooking the horses in the front of the trailer, I fell off into the raging water while trying to unlatch the door on Bonn-Fyres side  (I got the other horses door unlatched before that).   I went down stream for quite a way.  To this day I do  not like even driving through large puddles.

Oh my gosh BFF, that sounds so traumatic!  I can only imagine the anxiety flood waters must bring for you.

Mike, glad your farm is not in jeopardy of being flooded.  We've had soooo much rain and snow this year, whenever Spring does get here it will probably take 2 months to dry out.

I've learned that no amount of money can substitute for class.

I’m sorry you went through that. I had no idea.

It had been a really long time since I talked about it.
