I came across a website of a ranch where you can:

Come ride like the cowboys of ol' in the wild west of Ireland

The Lazy B Ranch was officially open in June of 2015. A 9 year old dream that has finally come to reality. The treks are suited for all ages and experience from complete beginners to experienced people. People are given the chance to ride using western saddles like the cowboys of the wild west. It is a different style of riding and some say much more comfortable for both horses and people alike.

LOL

Interesting Mike.  Do you think you and Pam will go there one day?  Any idea what breed those horses are?  They look to be pretty good size and sturdy!  They need some 2017 photos.

I've learned that no amount of money can substitute for class.

Yes we're hoping to go in late May/early June in 2020 for our 50th anniversary, a bit in the future but it will give me time to save up for it. If anybody here wants to tag along and spilt some of the cost you are welcome. TravelIng alone isn't as much fun and if you're a couple I will have done the planning for you.
On our layover in New York we plan to do a little sightseeing. At this moment we plan to start in Dublin at a castle with a beautiful waterfall near there. Then back westward for lots of sightseeing and probably 3 riding treks of 2 hours each. One will be a beach ride. Pam will teach me to ride an English saddle. GASP! Yes me riding English. That might be worth the trip just to watch. LOL. Lots of B&B's so we can "taste" the local scene both food and the people. Probably a 10 day Irish vacation we hope. Stay tuned

The horses at the various stables seem to be CONNEMARA PONY, IRISH DRAUGHT, IRISH SPORT HORSE, IRISH WARMBLOOD, and GYPSY HORSE with a sprinkling of others as well. They apparently try to match the rider with the appropriate horse and have boots and helmets on hand. The rides are also geared to the riders ability ranging from raw beginner to expert.

Is that the place you have decided on or are you still looking.  Found this on Trip Advisor

"The Top Ten Ireland Horseback riding tours Ireland"

Most of them have a couple hundred of reviews which is a good barometer

No, that's not on my list I just found it amusing. Here's my current top of the list so far but it might change over time. The first two have videos of their rides.

Another nice place to consider-

$2500 for a week to rent the entire ranch. Absolutely gorgeous!
