Prayers sent for Dan's quick recovery. No matter what we do to keep them safe, they seem to get into everything. My filly tore her shoulder wide open, to the bone, in April and it  took my vet over 2 hours to stitch up the layers of muscle. Very scary and certainly set back her training &  plans for the Fall shows, but she seems good to go now.  Please keep us posted on Dan's progress.

I know it was cleaned and stitched but a several years ago I had one come in with a horrible gash on his hip and 3 legged lame. Cleaned, debrided, stitched healed slowly, 6 months later started started to swell and eventually open up and drain as a 3 inch chunk of bone fragment worked its way out.

Very sorry you are dealing with this, I hate mystery wounds. My vet always says we need a CSI unit for horses. I know someone who used Bannix on a horrific wound and had amazing results.

ah, it is just a bit higher than where my young one got hurt

I suspect he was going to be pretty sore from the original issue, then fell onto the wounded part and it is swollen and more tender.  are the drains still working (ie, stuff draining out)?

Poor guy - hope he recovers quickly. If it has not already been x-rayed, I may be inclined to ask for one if you don't start to see some improvement.
