Yes it was a thought that had entered my mind a few times... and I had to really sit and think about things and I Really want out of LIFE!

Firecreek you hit the nail on the head..that really DROVE it home for me. I did miss the horses of course, but I did NOT want to come home. I was plotting my escape from the Puerto Vallarta airport , and not because I was scared to get on the plane lol Then...when I got home...it didn't even feel like home.

There are a lot of smaller factors in the decision but the biggest ones are that to run it as a full time training operation on my own just isn't feasible. Its a very nice farm, there is lots of people who want to board here to use the arena and I am sure the facility could be full just doing that and it would be great as a side, or supplementary income to help pay for the costs of the arena ect ....but too hard the way I am doing it.

I probably won't officially advertise the farm until June with the realtor..wait till the house renos are done and it dries up and greens up for some good photos :) But I welcome any interest in the meantime!

Good for you for realizing that you want to make a change and doing something about it. You are young and have your whole life in front of you, keeping a facility of any size is alot of work and when you are working horses on top of that it can suck the joy out of riding. Congrats and good luck!

Come visit us to see the farm and horses for sale. We are selling the farm and disbursing all but a few of our horses. Prices are super low and all offers will be considered. A good home more important than price!

Selfishly, I'm sorry to hear this - the horse world needs more like you - enthusiatic, compassionate, and competent young trainers and caretakers.

For your sake, I'm glad to hear that you're taking care of yourself.

Best wishes in all your future endevours!

Good for you, being true to what will make you fullfilled in life. I applaud your courage and ability to be honest with yourself. I knew while you were in Mexico, especially after conquerring your fears, that you would have life changing clarity. Big hugs from me!

Just know that you may come back to training horses a little later in life with stronger support and on your terms. In the meantime, ENJOY your life, family, friends & horses!

It is entirely possible that I may go back to training later on when I am settled and financially stable. The horse world isn't gonna lose me, I'll be here , just in a different capacity :) I'll still be here irritating everyone with my opinion lol

Sounds like a plan to me. Don't blame you a bit. It's hard to enjoy your horses when your overwelmed taking care of other peoples animals, and then try and take care of yourself. Over the years, I have been trompled head to toe twice, kicked dead on in the chest, by both hind feet(my cousins mare) missing part of a finger, I have neuropathy from probably getting thrown really bad in 92, plus a few car wrecks over the years. I have been injured by other peoples mares when breeding, (not my stallions)Steroids shots only last so long. Your making a wise decision, take of yourself!

I'll bet if we all listed the multiple injuries we've sustained over the years, it would sound like that of those NFL players who hobble around in their retirement. (Not making fun, just relating my own experience!)

Love you girl, love what you do with the horses, but totally understand that you need time to love yourself and your interests.

This is a hard life...I also find myself soul searching about how long I want to continue down this road. I may decide that I want to downsize to make life easier as I am not getting any younger...
