Ok guys now no fair if you know who this mare is or her breeding, as you can see she is FAT but that makes this test even harder!! :D NO telling if you know who she is or what big breeder she came from :D

What do you guess her bloodlines to be BESIDES Gwarny being in her dam line?

Lets get your best guess by just looking at her phenotype

Oh my! Too much Kuhailan Haifi? LOL She doesn't even look Arabian.

Wow Lacinda, that really burst my bubble of enthusiasm for Gwarny!!! Look at the picture of his Mother though, Amarath Sahib was a whopper of a sire.
Same goes for El Mokthar- (1971) http://www.allbreedp....com/el+mokhtar The picture of him gave me goosebumps but the picture of his parents, it was a miracle he was this gorgeous.

Good God, don't blame Gwarny for this! LOL

Hi Heather, I know this isn't on topic but can you email me kathleenlagrutta@netzero.net or PM here. I am going to be down in San Diego in February and want to see the horses. It says I can't PM you here. Thanks, Kathleen

Sure, I will clean out my box in the morning and PM you then :)

Aw come on no more guesses on Miss Fatty here? :)

*Dunajec? Just because the only other purebred mare I've ever seen in close to this shape is double-bred *Dunajec!

I can't play because i know who she is, but I think she looks like a nice correct mare that is morbidly obese, poor thing.

What do we think of this one?

Ok one more photo essay thingy :)

This time is for showing toplines , now Dan has about the most level topline I have seen....(in person anyway, I don't go to shows anymore so I'm sure its always seen there) and I am certain he is not camped out. This is a bad photo of him as he was standing on sand mounds in the round pen and its built up right where his feet are so he stands all funky as he is trying to look at a mare....so give him a little slack. I know he is not perfect either though. Anyway.....Dan...he is a very typey horse as you can see, even in 'greyhound endurance' condition as he is here. This was about 2 days after he returned from 6 months of hardcore riding, and I mean riding across fields, up and down gullies and ditches, in the arena, and working with a bull fighting trainer who by the way said Dan was a very good horse to ride and still has a nice fondness towards Dan due to the nice rides they had. The trainer is not a short man either :) (But is very svelte)

So my point in this photo using Dan (And Dan is really not at stud at all, not even for me much yet except with a boarders appy) is to show how a topline does not have to be humpy to have legs set under the horse. Oh and by the way before Dan went to training he had no withers....somehow his withers appeared when he went into training LOL (I can post an old photo if anyone does not believe me....it used to be a joke...he had none but he found them at Los Acres)
Oh, on movement as it pertains to this topline. Dan is not an extravagant mover on the ground but very long and low as I have posted a photo of that earlier , but under saddle he can be picked up a lot and with more work he would actually be quite an 'up ' mover due to how he is built. It just takes more than 6 months to make that as he came to them a roly poly fat boy....he is in pretty much top endurance condition in the photo here.
Here is Dan, 14.2 h....Skowronek lines
Posted Image

Then I have Summer, this guy is a *Carmargue/*El Shaklan grandson with spanish and also Naborr :)

He has a totally different topline.....when standing still his butt is higher at the peak (but very nice) Once he moves though or stands up he levels out. Summer is not much more extravagant than Dan, if any. They are both quite lazy at liberty so its hard to tell, these are not snorty blowy horses.

THis is Summer in complete and utter lack of condition, not even pasture condition, more like stall , in and out condition. He is well loved but we don't have a ton of room in So cal :)

Different people like different horses. Summer is 15.1 by the way. Showing another topline here , this time not as level but I think his legs are still under him. I will have to study Summer a bit more closely in person though, as in this photo almost looks slightly out.....but I think it might be how he is standing.

Lacinda,

With the photos you posted here, they are showing that the grey horse is more "plumb" than the bay. What they look like in the actual flesh may be different...both are just gorgeous!

Sue, let me find another one of Dan for you , it is , I suppose , possibly though....if he is even a little out behind, I tell you, he can for sure use that hiney!! Off to get one more photo.
(I just don't see it) If I draw a line down from the outer point of his hip, even in this bad photo....on the leg that is on the ground (Obviously can't use a leg that is flung back in a pose or whatnot) then it seems to me to go straight down past his hock. Now....on Summer, its not I really think he looks out behind though.....its that there is a straighter line so thats a different issue.

Sorry so many....but I really don't have any photos of Dan standing square except for the one of him talking to Sarah where his front feet are in a ditch. Now, I want to say something since so many are so quick NOT to pay attention to the small details, in most of these (especially the one with the bay mare) he is standing with his front feet pointing downward in a ditch. Dan has very correct front legs but that combined with the angle makes it look funky. So don't make me sorry I shared lol.

Dan under saddle :) Had been about 45 days here

Dan in totally muddy pasture shape, standing up looking at a mare (leg is a bit out due to stance)

Dan being a silly boy, but shows his nice hind end construction when in use....again, he was FAT and muddy here, same day as above photo, note: No withers

Ok since only TWO people have tried to guess her breeding, her AHA name is Amara swsb http://www.allbreedp....com/amara+swsb

Mel, I'm with you but wanted to see who could see through the fat

I should probably make a new thread about conformation, being rump sprung is what Peter calls it.....(and have heard it called that before) I would like to learn about this.

I guess Dan can be the guinea pig......and Summer, and Dyno etc. But where to make this? Its not really a 'hot topic'

By the way some of you are doing this 'out behind' line drawing the actual 'arab horse ideal' that the judges use (the drawing) would be out behind :D

So, as soon as I figure out where to do it and have another 10 minutes to make it I am going to take my pictures and go elsewhere, sorry to have taken it over but it interested me and then I get on a mission. I will look for a good 'category' maybe just the cafe since it will be seen there by most.

AHA! *Maligg is the biggest culprit, Heather. I owned a NSH daughter of his and saw a lot of his offspring/grandget. Was unimpressed by his purebreds.

(eta - I found 10 or 11 crosses to K. Haifi - mostly via Witraz. No bueno, IMO).
