The Region 17 Show Commission was challenged to cut their budget and redesign the show to make it more profitable.
After many years of suggesting the pre-show be eliminated, it was finally done. So the first major change for the 2011 show is there will be NO PRE-SHOW.
The second major change is the re-alignment of classes to allow for the elimination of showing on Sunday. Not only will this reduce overall costs but it will allow one more rest day between Region 17 and Canadian Nationals.
The Show Commission did not make these changes without a great deal of discussion, pencil sharpening and consideration of pros and cons. When these changes were presented to the delegates at the Region 17 Spring meeting they were met with approval and the show commission was thanked for being diligent in their goal to be fiscally responsible as everyone recognized the need for the changes.
Every year we are asked to provide more fun. The dog races are always a hit. The youth have added a fun class and this year we will be introducing our mens sidesaddle class. We are blessed with patrons like Rae Dawn Arabians who put on an exhibitor breakfast, Allan Dale Trailers who provide us with a lunch and Margaritas and Todd Ehret who hosted an exhibitor party. This year, to create an atmosphere of comaraderie and fun, there will be a progressive barn party that everyone can participate in instead of a patrons dinner, thanks to the generosity of many of our training barns and sponsors. The revised prizelist is available on the Region 17 website. Hope to see you in Red deer!
