GRANDSON of the all-time leading Spanish sire of national champions, NA MALIK, out of an AMERIGO mare, NEEDS A HOME
July 2010

Blaze N Fyre, aka “Smokey,” is a 17-year old purebred registered gray Arabian gelding whose elderly owner recently died.

An ex-race horse, Smokey has been living the quiet life for a while now, hanging out with his pasture buddies. But his buddies are all being placed in new homes and he is in need of a place to go, and someone to love and ride him.

Sporting a celebrity pedigree, Smokey’s sire was WN Matador, who was owned for a time by Wayne Newton. WN Matador was a performance horse (halter and English Pleasure) with a lengthy show record. He sired 17 babies, one of whom was Blaze N Fyre, aka “Smokey.”

WN Matador's sire was the exceptional stallion and all time leading Spanish sire of champions, NA Malik. NA Malik was pure Spanish and imported into the USA from Spain in 1972. During his lifetime, he sired 430 babies! (See the article on “Spanish Arabians” by Arlene Magid.)

Smokey's mother is a daughter of the famous AMERIGO, the US Reserve National Champion Stallion in 1966 (among other accomplishments). AMERIGO has wonderful bloodlines that trace back to mostly Polish (hence the idea that Smokey could race), with some German and Arabian. AMERIGO's father was the great FERSEYN, by RASEYN, who is by the influential SKOWRONEK (anyone interested in Smokey should read up on this horse; he was a foundation stallion of the CRABBET STUD, a very important breeder, historically). These are cherished bloodlines that someone will love to know about and hopefully appreciate.

Smokey was raced as a 5-year old. Out of 13 starts, he won one and placed second in another. His total earnings amounted to $2,930. While fully under saddle, he has been off work for a long time and needs to rebuild a relationship with someone. Once he knows you, as with most Arabians, he will be in your pocket.

IF YOU CAN GIVE SMOKEY A HOME for possibly 5, 10, maybe 15 years, PLEASE CONTACT LAUREN SAVORD, WHO IS HELPING PLACE THIS WONDERFUL HORSE ONLY TO A WONDERFUL HOME.
