Hope this won't bore everyone too much, but since Carrie said Hilm is one of her favorite stallions, I wanted to post the full writeup on Hilm which has even more detail about *Sa Ika. What really impresses me most is that *Sa Ika is out of a mare who had three sons imported to the USA and ALL of them sired National winners. And Hilm has an amazing dam side pedigree too, with so many 2009 National winners tracing to the same female family. Mary Ellen is a very lucky lady to have both of these boys on her premises. I so wish I could visit...

I am finally getting a chance to start to catch up on things. I am delighted to see *Sa'Ika safely delivered to Mary Ellen. What a treasure to have such a grand horse at her farm. :-)

I have a *Sa'Ika daughter (AM Tawny Britania), two granddaughters (FCF Titanias Vanity and FCF Silver Stardust), and a great-grandson (FCF Enchanted Flame) so I have a special interest in this extraordinary stallion.

It is wonderful that you are giving him a loving retirement ...

I am horseless right now, but someday I hope to be able to do the same thing for one or two older horses.

Mary Ellen you out did yourself when you obtained Sa Ika. He is a superb example of everything great that Crabbet breeding has to offer and I’m glad that he arrived safely. May you have many bleedings to this great sire and may he produce another generation of winners. :1: :th_atrot: :1:

he sure is stunning and does NOT look his age! congrats!

The Arabian stallion is magnificent, and the mare quite glamorous, but the airy-fairy foal is so delicate and fawn-like, he steals your heart away!
- Gladys Brown Edwards, "Know the Arabian Horse"

"So tender is the Arab of his horse, that he will seldom beat or spur him; and in consequence of this humane treatment, the animal considers itself as one of the family, and will allow the children to play round it, and to fondle it like a dog." The Wonders of the Horse, by Jos. Taylor "For the dominant quality of Arab blood is its eternal, its immortal persistence. Wherever, as the horseman of today looks about him and among these horses, observes beauty, speed, grace, fire, activity, docility and fineness yet toughness of fiber, he sees that eternity, that immortality, incarnated. It has triumphed over everything mundane, thousands of years, hap and circumstances, time and tide, incredible hardships and immemorial adversities, misuse, and abuse, the exigencies of mankind's daily life and the flame and blood of the battlefield, unconquerable, indestructible and victorious. Everything worth while in the shape of a horse in the world today partakes of it. The Greeks believed it Godlike, and verily they made no mistake."March 27, 1942, Mr. Hervey

Anne,
Where else should fathers go. We have 3 generations of boys here. *Sa Ika, Hilm and Amir. I am so proud to have the privelge of keeping the 3.
Does make for some fun.
Just an FYI we have 3 mares looking for good homes.

Heather,
You are right, *Sa Ika is going to be a hoot to ride.
Can't wait. I have been sick this week and still trying to get over a lung infection so it will be a bit.
Think we have the right bit for him so another week or two and we should be out and about.
Mary Ellen.
