Sent to me from a Crabbet group:

DISTRESS SALE
Fairview Arabian Stud is announcing that it has been unable to re-acquire the lease on the Historic Mandalay Cattle Ranch from THE NATURE TRUST CONSERVATORY OF B.C. The leasee's preference now being cows rather than horses. This tragic loss coupled with the financial burden of feeding 90 horses has brought us to the point of announcing our plight. This is your chance to get that FV horse you've been looking at or start your very own breeding program. Other mares and stallions may be available for lease or sale. All horses must be off the property by Sept 30/09. All sales horses listed @ $1500.00 or PT. Serious offers will be considered.

Yes David certainly has some interesting horses. There are some good ones on these lists. I wish they wouldn't use PT and just set a price but I guess if you are interested you can always ask.

Gosh, I sure hope some of those bloodlines reach there way down into the midwest. I have wanted to breed a mare to one of Fairviews stallions for several years now but the distance was just too much for me to handle. And the mare I considered was not a candidate for AI.
Since I am a chestnut loving fool, going to the website was a big mistake for me. I have already seen five mares/fillies I would love to bring home. FV Precious Dream being one of them.

Do you know if the farm will be relocated with fewer horses or totally dispersed?

Love those Aurab lines. We need to keep them going.

I had a lengthy telephone call with David, last evening. All the horses have to
be moved by Sept. 30. In addition, David has put up loads of facilities,
including pasture fencing and stallion facilities, which will have to also be
moved. All of this in additioin to his veterinary practice.

He asked me to make suggestions with regard to his sales page. The one that I
did make was that he not put any conditions on the sale prices (ie. gelding
price, etc.) It does state that if there are any horses that you do not see on
the sales page, ask about them. I know he will negotiate $$ for more than 1
horse. Also, he thought that perhaps a breeder (or an aspiring breeder) would
be interested in a long lease of a group of horses.

It is going to be really tough. David thinks that he may be able to find a place
to keep 30+ of his herd. He pastures most of the mares through the
summer/autumn, bringing them up to feed through the hard winters. That leaves
60 he needs to place. I can offer to take a few (very few) of the mares on a
lease, if for nothing else than to give them a home while he gets re-situated.

If anyone wants to try to put something together, I have experience in bringing
horses to the US from David's and know of at least 2 haulers that make the trip
across the border at Oliver (just above Spokane).

I was just thinking the same thing! What a spectacular group of horses....and the colors are amazing!

Already in the loop ;-)

Earlier today, I sent the notification of this situation to be distributed to the ECAHS e-mail list (I'm on the ECAHS BOD). I am unable to take any more horses myself right now (I have a small farm and have already taken on stock from three other CMK breeders who did or are dispersing), but a friend and breeding partner is working on getting some of David's horses.

Wow!

I have never heard of these breeders, they only live a couple of hours away from me........ There certainly are some lovely horses, although I am not well versed in some of these bloodlines.... Im a newbie to the Arabian world...... wonder if there would be any potential sport horse types up there.

wub.gif Wow, I am also a sucker for those chestnut horses, and they have so many! there are so many that look fabulous, I have the room for one, and live close.......

I'm sure you can find some very good sport horse prospects there.
